Design #3

Design #3 is similar to Design #2, i.e., the stormwater from the road will be channeled through a Nutrient Separating Baffle Box, then into the canal, passing south of Hollywood Estates, and ultimately discharging into Crane Creek and the Indian River Lagoon.

The big change is that the city is increasing the capacity of the retention pond at the Ray Bullard Water Reclamation Facility. This is the site of the new water plant that the city is building on Henry Avenue, east of Hollywood Estates of Canova Park. It is a bit under a mile downstream from the point at which the water will be dumped into the canal.

The hope is that the increased capacity of the retention pond will allow stormwater from the new road to be channeled through the canal without spilling over.

The city submitted computer simulations purporting to show that this will suffice for a 25-year storm.

Note: Canal and Retention Pond not to scale.
